Todd Bodine ready to go truckin’ at Talladega Superspeedway
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Todd Bodine is looking for more action-packed racing heading into Saturday’s Mountain Dew 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.
The 2005 series champion and driver of the No. 30 Germain Racing Toyota won last year’s race at the 2.66-mile track from the pole and
outdueled Rick Crawford in a thrilling final-lap battle.
“I’m excited,” said Bodine in reference to returning to Talladega. “I’ve always enjoyed Talladega racing.”
Bodine, the winner of the series’ other restrictor-plate race at Daytona International Speedway in February returns to Talladega with the same truck.
“It doesn’t hurt things when you’ve won the last two [restrictor-plate] races and you’re taking the same truck that’s been the winning truck,” said Bodine.
In two career starts at Talladega, Bodine has one victory and two-top five finishes. Bodine is currently seventh in the series standings, 257 points behind leader Johnny Benson.
Bodine also has nine top-five and 11 top-10 finishes in 19 starts this season. His best finish to date since winning the season opener at Daytona was second in the O’Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 20.
Although Bodine and his team haven’t raced since Sept. 20 at Las Vegas, the former NASCAR Modified racer said his crew has been busy preparing for the big race at Talladega.
“They’ve worked on [the truck] to make it even better. That’s just the way this team is,” said Bodine.
