Bristol Motor Speedway announced today that tickets are available for the Food City 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race on March 22, 2009 – a rarity at the track that has had 53 consecutive sellouts.

BMS President Jeff Byrd said the availability stems from the decision by some corporate clients not to buy tickets for the 2009 season.

"It is no secret many corporations are cutting back in certain areas, and we have a large amount of corporate clients who are cutting tickets from their accounts as a means to trim," Byrd said.

Since Speedway Motorsports Inc. purchased the facility in 1996, BMS has had the 53 consecutive sellouts.

Tickets for the Sharpie 500 Sprint Cup race on Aug. 22 are sold out. Tickets are available for the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at BMS on March 21 and the Food City 250 Nationwide race on Aug. 21. Tickets are also on sale for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at BMS on Aug. 19,

Qualifying day tickets for both Sprint Cup and Nationwide events on March 20 are also available.

Purchase information is available at (423) 989-6900 or on the Web at www.bristoltix.com.

Tallageda is fun, but you're wrong about Bristol. Did you go in March? You dont quite have the passing interest fans there in the spring. More of a hardcore base.

We gave up our six tickets when Tenn. outlawed smoking in the stands. Next will be NO coolers or beer. Parking is horrible and its freezing in March. TV land feels good in March. Racing is great-everything else sucks

Did anybody go to the race in Fontana in Feb., 2008? What a joke!

Hey #1 - We've never been to Bristol or Talladega, but would like to get to both. Why is Bristol over-rated?

    Hmm - Mr.(I'm embarrassed) No name - -Talladega -
    ZOOM - tic-tic-tic-tic-tic---ZOOM-tic-tic-tic-tic-----zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz---wait for the crash - -
I wonder why anyone would prefer only (almost) seeing cars going by their seat 200 times - about every minute or so vs getting to watch them FIVE HUNDRED TIMES every fifteen/sixteen SECONDS - -AND - -at Bristol -you don't need a Hubble telescope to see what's going on !!!
The Bristol track is FILLED with cars that you can SEE and feel - - and no-one gets screwed because someone beHIND them changes lanes or their "tag team drafting partner" left them out to dry.
You EARN a win at Bristol by DRIVING -accelerating, braking, etc - - not just dropping a brick on the gas pedal and just sitting there - -you don't get "pushed"to a win - -it's not a "wheelbarrel" or "three-legged"race!
I can watch three lanes of bumper to bumper traffic anyday on the Interstate. Granted -the speeds are higher at Dega - -So ?? Want REAL speed ?? Sit downtrack at an NHRA meet and when the fuelers blast by - hold on to your a-------- !!!!

I realize that Bristol and Talladega are two different race tracks. Why not diversify? To each his own I guess. I need to experience both before I make an opinion. I think both would be great to go to.

(I'm speaking from TV land now.) I love the super speedways, but I think the short tracks would be quite an experience.

As for NHRA, I am embarassed to say that I only live 3 hours from Brainerd International and haven't been there yet!!! Go ahead, let me have it!!:-)

There is nothing like standing 10ft. away from 8000HP blowing out raw NITRO and shaking your whole body, and when they take off its mind blowing. NASCAR is Dull next to NHRA.

i must say i went to the night race at bristol this year and it was the best experience at a track that i have been to.
i have been to dega and wasn't impressed, been to new hampshire and enjoyed it, been to martinsville 2 times and that should tell ya something and i live in michigan and have been to mis 5 times. bristol was well worth the drive and ticket price to see nascars best up close and personal. not a bad seat in the place and if you need to smoke go under the stands. the parking there is ruff but if you look hard enough you can find decent parking spots.

How could you say that Bristol is boring??? I went to the fall race there this year, and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen (beside seeing Kasey Kahne wreck before my very eyes =(...lol)!! I went to four races this season (Martinsville x2, Dover, and Bristol). Nothing will ever compare to Bristol! The atmosphere at that track was nothing short of amazing!! I would love to go back again!!

I've had season tickets to Bristol since 2001, and this year I sold my tickets to someone who had always wanted to go to the night race there. I found the night racing there very...polite compared to the first races I attended. I'm giving myself a year to decide whether I will even keep the tickets for 2010, or forget the whole thing. Ever since the chase was implemented, the races there just haven't been the same.

Bristol is just an over-rated demolition derby....you can't see ALL of the action ALL of the time...they get all strung out and it is just one complete mass of cars...I hate it...you don't know who is leading unless you look at the scoring tower.....made a vow never to go back to that so called race...you want to see a real race that is exciting from the drop of the green flag to the waving of the checkers...it's Talladega...and...I AM entitled to my opinion....if you like Bristol, fine have at it....

I'll take Bristol any day over Talladaga. Talladaga is a cruise control race and the only excitement is the big one, which doesn't make for good racing. 1st is Darlington where you see great racing for 500 miles.

To all the Bristol rumpswabbers - Anonymous #1 is correct. Bristol is worthless. There has not been any kind of quality competition there since the one-shot double-file restart race in April 1991; everything else has been crashes and single-file attrition; if any track deserves to be removed from the Winston Cup schedule it is Bristol; put Bristol and the other short tracks onto the BGN and Truck schedules and free up those dates for Winston Cup at bigger and better tracks. Robert Wingert is a total fool - Talladega is lead changes galore; Darlington offers NOTHING in the way of good racing. Bill Thompson - what the hell are "real" stock cars anyway?
