TV ratings up 6 percent for Sprint Cup race at Bristol

Television ratings for all three NASCAR races from Bristol Motor Speedway were higher this year than last year, headlined by a 6 percent increase in the Sprint Cup ratings.

The Irwin Tools Night Race race Saturday night on ABC earned a final national rating of 3.5, averaging 5,841,952 viewers, according to ESPN. Last year’s race, on ESPN, had a 3.3 national rating and averaged 5,322,577 viewers.

The Nationwide race Friday night on ESPN earned a 1.6 rating, up 7 percent from 1.5 for last year’s race on ESPN2. Five of the last eight Nationwide races have been higher than last year.

The Camping World Truck Series race pulled in a 0.69 rating on Speed, a 3 percent increase over the 0.67 last year, according to the network.
