Stewart admits to altercation with USAC official

INDIANAPOLISTony Stewart admitted to having an "altercation" with a USAC official during a race Thursday night at O'Reilly Raceway Park.

According to the Anderson Herald Bulletin, Stewart knocked a headset from an official's head and then shoved the official after becoming upset about a ruling related to a Tony Stewart Racing USAC car.

"There was definitely a disagreement," Stewart said Friday. "But that's the great thing about my relationship with USAC. We talked about it after it happened and after the race was over. They've got their eyes open and they're doing everything they can to make sure incidents like that don't happen again."

The incident Stewart was referring to occurred when his driver, points leader Tracy Hines, brushed the wall and had to come in for repairs. The crew fixed the car and attempted to get him back in the race before the restart, according to the Herald Bulletin, but a USAC official said the crew was too late to get the car in the race for the restart.

Stewart became upset, which eventually led to the altercation. He said he stayed until 12:30 a.m. talking with series officials to sort everything out, but told reporters Friday he expected to be penalized for his actions.

"When you're sitting there and you've got your corporate sponsors there and you've got a car on the race track and it's sitting on pit lane and they can't get a push truck to it, you're supporting your guys and your team that worked hard on that car trying to get it back out," he said in explaining his role in the altercation.

Great example of Stewart and his immaturity. He hasn't changed a bit, he will never become a man.

It's crazy how these Tony haters are always the first ones to comment on all the stories involving Tony Stewart. And it's not like the media would exaggerate the incident or anything. The role of villian has been assigned to Tony years ago and he definitely doesn't deserve it. I saw a saying the other day that would definitely be a good anthem for Tony "I'm mean because you are stupid."
