AVONDALE, Ariz. – Stewart-Haas Racing announced on Saturday a five-race primary sponsorship for Ryan Newman for each of the next two years by Tornados, a snack made by Ruiz Foods.
Newman has an additional 15 races sponsored by the U.S. Army for next year and the team is still seeking more sponsorship although the team has put co-owner Gene Haas’ Haas Automation on the hood when necessary in NASCAR Sprint Cup races.
“They’re new to the sport and we aim to make their entry into NASCAR a positive one that will grow their business, and ultimately, grow their involvement within the sport and Stewart-Haas Racing,” team co-owner Tony Stewart said.
Ruiz Foods is using the sponsorship to help promote its recent roll out of the product in grocery stores. The snacks – a mix of meats and/or cheeses in a rolled fried tortilla – had been available on roller grills in convenience stores for more than five years.
“NASCAR is the ideal platform for our Tornados brand to extend its reach to the consumer,” said Bryce Ruiz, president and chief executive officer of Ruiz Foods.
Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.
