Sporting News’ 60 Most Beautiful People: No. 58, Dale Jarrett
In 60 years of NASCAR racing, the sport has been filled with colorful characters. This year, Sporting News decided to craft a list of the sport's 60 Most Beautiful People.
The selections were made as a result of nominations sent in by readers and NASCAR fans to the Sporting News' publications and Web sites.
The list was finalized and published in a special edition, which is now available on newsstands and at the online store at streetandsmiths.com. SceneDaily is running the list, with one person from the top 60 to be featured each day.
Today's installment features No. 58, Dale Jarrett.
It's tough to give up something you've done your entire life.
After 24 years of racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, it was time for Dale Jarrett to park his car in the garage.
But you won't find Jarrett playing golf, going to barbecues or sitting around the house. Now the three-time Daytona 500 winner and 1999 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion has a new gig that's right up his alley.
After having one final go-round at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race in May, Jarrett became the lead analyst for ESPN's NASCAR coverage, signing a five-year deal. At the network, Jarrett joined his old high school friends from Hickory, N.C., Dr. Jerry Punch and Andy Petree.
The trio will lend their knowledge of the sport to racing fans 28 times next year as they travel to various tracks throughout the season.
