AVONDALE, Ariz.Elliott Sadler says Carl Edwards may be great on the track, but his driving could use a little brushing up away from it.

Sadler, who qualified second for Saturday night’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 Sprint Cup Series race, didn’t miss out on the chance to rib the Roush Fenway Racing driver.

The driver of the Gillett Evernham Motorsports Dodge said he was sitting in his motocoach having something to eat when he and his friends noticed Edwards trying to back his truck in and out of its spot. The two were parked side by side.

Soon, Sadler’s group noticed that Edwards seemed a little off track.

“They were hollering, ‘He’s getting kind of close, he’s getting close’ and all of a sudden the whole bus rocked,” Sadler said. “I was like ‘Did he just hit this bus?’ He came in and was very gentleman about it and said he was sorry and told us that he’d take care of it.

“I was like, ‘You’ve won three of four races this year making us all look stupid on Sunday, how do you run into the back of a parked bus that is 48-foot long?’ We laughed it off, and we’ll get it fixed.”

Sadler said Edwards offered him a chance to get even, but Sadler declined.

“He said that ‘you can go retaliate on mine,' but we all know what his bus looks like,” Sadler said with a laugh. “We’re going to get it appraised; he’s won three races this year so the appraisal is going to be pretty high. He’s good going fast forward, but I don’t know about him backing out anymore.”
