CONCORD, N.C. - On a night that will be remembered more for teammate Kasey Kahne's victory, Elliott Sadler gave Gillett Evernham Motorsports fans even more reason to smile. He finished eighth in Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

“It was a real good night for our Gillett Evernham Motorsports race teams," said Sadler, who moved up three spots to 25th in the series standings. "This was a great rebound race for [my] team because it proves that we can come back and run with these guys out here. We made some great adjustments there at the end that gave us good track position with about 100 laps to go. [Crew chief] Rodney [Childers] made some great calls on pit road and the crew did a fantastic job all day and night on pit stops.

"We made up a lot of points which will help us in the standings. The 600 is a really long race and to bring home a top-10 feels great."

Sadler's finish, which came eight days after being wrecked by Red Bull Racing's AJ Allmendinger while racing near the front in the Sprint Showdown at LMS, was especially gratifying for Sadler because it came on a night when he could share in a teammate's victory.

“I’m thrilled for Kasey and the No. 9 team on battling all night and winning the 600," Sadler said. "He was fast all night and certainly deserved to win the race. Overall, tonight was a great confidence booster for the Dodge team and Gillett Evernham Motorsports."
