Rush Limbaugh connects perception of Palin as a 'hayseed hick' with NASCAR
Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh was talking about Vice President candidate Sarah Palin, the current governor of Alaska, on Fox News’ On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.
And what he had to say Tuesday might not please many NASCAR fans.
“Oh, I like Governor Palin. I mean, she's refreshing. I think she's real. … She's – you know, this – we have a polarization in this country not just of conservative, liberal, Democrat, Republican. We also have a polarization in this country of elites versus average people,” Limbaugh said on the show, according to a transcript on Fox News’ Web site. “The elites think they're the smart people and they think Sarah Palin's a hayseed hick. She may as well be on the NASCAR circuit.”
NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston issued a comment on Limbaugh’s remarks:
"Obviously, Mr. Limbaugh hasn't spent much time with our drivers or fans," Poston said. "NASCAR drivers and fans represent the best of America whether they are from small towns or big cities."
