General Discussion » What is really wrong with Dale Jr
Maybe he just can't get a grip on the C.O.T. He has really struggled since the switch, and maybe he can't grasp how this car works to tell his Chief what ne...

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Robby Gordon says he has enough sponsorship to run the full NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule next season
and has no interest in driving for anyone but himself.
Gordon said Menards is among the sponsors coming back. Gordon has had sponsorship mainly from Menards and Jim Beam this year. Jim Beam announced last November that it would sponsor Gordon through 2008 and has not yet announced its plans for 2009.
“If people are estimating that we’re going to go away, obviously they don’t know me very well,” Gordon said after qualifying Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. “We’ll be fine.”
As far as a possible merger – Gordon had agreed in January to be bought out by Gillett Evernham Motorsports but that deal fell through – Gordon says he is not going to drive for anyone else.
“I may let someone come into my shop, but I won’t go into someone else’s shop if that makes any sense,” said Gordon, who is 32nd in points during what has been a crazy season for him.
Gordon recently began a four-race engine-leasing deal with Penske Racing.
“We’re only into race two of it, and I think they’re good motors,” Gordon said. “I’ve got a lot of respect for [team owner] Roger [Penske] and always have. It’s the first time he’s ever done a lease deal and I feel honored that he would do a program like that with us.”

Oct 5, 2008 at 12:28 PMSay what you will, RG speaks his mind, gets everything he can out of the equipment he's in, always gives his all and puts on a good show. I can't ask for anything more from anyone. Like him or not, our sport is better because he's here.

Oct 5, 2008 at 8:35 PMHaha Lori GEM's headaches lie in the fact that they didn't have one of their cars qualify for the Chase, despite being a big operation, not because of a contract with Robby Gordon they signed and wanted to opt out of illegally :-/. George Gillett's problems extend even further than NASCAR, as he is nearly being pushed out of his own club in England, Liverpool FC, where the fans hate him and want his head. I suppose the Canadiens are doing well, but nobody cares about hockey anyway. Good for Robby, he makes real fans proud.

Oct 8, 2008 at 1:32 AMJust an update on this...word on the street is Robby will have Polaris as a sponsor next season. Some people at planetrobby.com have noted that he attended a Polaris exhibition in Las Vegas earlier this year with his Monster Hummer off-road truck and was heard on the scanner at Talladega asking whether "the Polaris guys were being taken care of".
