Reed Sorenson paces Saturday morning Cup practice at New Hampshire

LOUDON, N.H. - A surprising trio of drivers led the way in the first of Saturday's two NASCAR Sprint Cup practices at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Richard Petty Motorsports' Reed Sorenson, Nemco Motorsports' Joe Nemechek and Richard Childress Racing's Casey Mears topped the speed charts, with Sorenson pacing the session at 128.472 mph.

Nemechek (128.208) and Mears (128.135) followed, with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing's Martin Truex Jr. and Michael Waltrip Racing's David Reutimann rounding out the top five.

Six through 10th in speed were Hendrick Motorsports' Jimmie Johnson, EGR's Juan Pablo Montoya, Richard Childress Racing's  Jeff Burton, Penske Racing's Kurt Busch and RCR's Kevin Harvick.

There were no accidents in the 50-minute session, which will be followed by a final one-hour practice set for 11:45 a.m. EDT Saturday.

The green flag for Sunday's Lenox Industrial Tools 301 will wave just after 2 p.m. EDT.
