JOLIET, Ill. - Red Bull Racing's Brian Vickers led the way in Thursday's lone NASCAR Sprint Cup practice at Chicagoland Speedway leading up to Saturday's LifeLock.com 400.

Vickers (180.234 mph), beat out Hendrick Motorsports' Mark Martin (180.180) and Red Bull teammate Scott Speed (180.060) to pace the 90-minute session in which only the top three drivers eclipsed the 180 mph barrier.

Hendrick teammates Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. held down positions three through sixth on the speed chart, with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing's Juan Pablo Montoya, Richard Petty Motorsports' Kasey Kahne, Joe Gibbs Racing's Kyle Busch and Michael Waltrip Racing's David Reutimann completing the top 10.

There were no accidents in the session but TRG Motorsports' David Gilliland had a motor let go on his Chevrolet.

Action resumes for the Cup series with qualifying beginning at 8:40 p.m. EDT Thursday.

Go Scott Speed!!! Lead some laps like when you lead from 59-78 in Martinsville, one at Talladega, and Infineon with 34 to go!

And get a new teammate btw, Justin Loftin will do in the #83 not Vickers.

Way to go Brian! We have been fans since he began running in the Busch (Nationwide) series! We sure hated to see him leave HMS and replaced with the most popular driver as we know he is a great talent. Red Bull is lucky to have him and although we cheer for #24 we will always be #25 fans! Good luck on Saturday Brian!
