RCR to run Mike Wallace at Talladega

Richard Childress Racing will have a fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entry for the Oct. 5 race at Talladega Superspeedway with Mike Wallace as it tries to get a fourth team up to speed.

The No. 33 Chevrolet will have sponsorship from Realtree camouflage products.

“Mike Wallace is the best drafter available,” said RCR Vice President of Competition Mike Dillon, who indicated the No. 33 team might run at an intermediate track as well this year. “He’s really good there. He always runs up front. We’re taking a car and engine package that we plan on running at the [Daytona] 500 next year in February, and we couldn’t think of a better guy to take and put in the car.”

Next season, Clint Bowyer will drive the full-time No. 33 entry. He moves over from the No. 07, which will be driven by incoming RCR driver Casey Mears, as the organization, which also fields the entries of Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton, expands to four teams.

Realtree is working with Chevrolet and RCR on a promotion that will have the RCR cars of Harvick and Bowyer as well as the Dale Earnhardt Inc. cars of Martin Truex Jr. and Paul Menard in camouflage paint schemes.

The promotion will include Motorsports Authentics-produced diecasts and other merchandise as well as a sweepstakes to win a 2009 Chevy Silverado, a trip to Daytona Beach in February 2009 and a day of fishing with Capt. Rick Murphy, a hunting trip with Realtree founder Bill Jordan and other prizes.

Mike Wallace, YES! To test? Why not give these "vets" a full ride. I'm SICK of these owners hiring 18 yr olds who DO NOT deserve to race without real experience with the "big boys". That's why I don't watch, go to, or care about nascar like I used to. There is NO RESPECT in nascar racing anymore. I just hope they keep the trucks, because that's where the old time racing is.

I agree and see how it works when you get a multicar team stick in a veteran and he will teach the young ones a lot, take Mark Martin, Jeff Burten, etc.

Mike Wallace will probably do pretty good in a RCR car. Can't wait to see what he can do.I still don't understand the switch of Clint out of the #07 to the #33 though.

RCR is quality all the way. Mike will work out just fine. Agree with statements on youth. "Too much weight, too soon" can ruin a great raw talent. It takes time to build mental stamina, and real strong self assurance. Joe should know this! Nationwide needs Joey. Joey needs Nationwide. A couple wrecks and DNFs can change a mindset ...can ruin an otherwise great future. Money sometimes destroys common sense.
