RCR to host fan day, dinner benefiting Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma
As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, Richard Childress Racing will host a dinner benefiting the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma on Oct. 22 at the RCR headquarters in Welcome, N.C.
“I wanted to make sure seats were made available to everyone who wants to join our celebration as a thank you for all of the support we have received from our fans over the past 40 years,” said Richard Childress, president and chief executive officer of Richard Childress Racing. “We have a full program planned with long-time friends, great entertainment and a live auction with proceeds to benefit the Childress Institute.”
Winston Kelley, executive director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame and a long-time voice of the Motor Racing Network, will moderate a discussion panel that includes former NASCAR drivers Junior Johnson, Bobby and Donnie Allison, NASCAR President Mike Helton, radio personality Chocolate Myers and Childress. Live music and an auction will follow.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner starting at 7 p.m. and the program beginning as soon as everyone is seated. Tickets are $140 per person, and $100 of the ticket price is tax-deductible. Reservations are available by email at RCRFanDay@RCRracing.com or by calling (866) 635-8190.
RCR Fan Day, which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will include tours of RCR’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series shop, autograph sessions with Childress and all the RCR drivers, a pit crew competition, a kids’ entertainment area, sponsor displays and more. General admission for RCR Fan Day is $5, and there are other package options, with additional access, at $15 and $25. Proceeds from RCR Fan Day will also benefit the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma.
“I’ve been very fortunate in my racing career to have worked with some great people, and together, we have accomplished great things,” said Childress. “In the end, race fans represent what NASCAR is all about so we look forward to opening our doors and celebrating RCR’s 40th anniversary together. Donating the proceeds from RCR Fan Day to the Childress Institute will allow those fans who attend to not only take part in our celebration but also help save the lives of seriously injured children across the United States.”
