RCR paces first practice Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – Richard Childress Racing swept the three top spots in practice Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Jeff Burton was the quickest with a speed of 175.709 mph, while teammate Clint Bowyer was second at 175.466 and Kevin Harvick was third at 175.182.

Fords took the next two spots with Richard Petty Motorsports’ Kasey Kahne and Roush Fenway Racing’s Matt Kenseth.

Sixth through 10th were Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin, Michael Waltrip Racing’s Martin Truex Jr., Hendrick Motorsports’ Mark Martin, Roush Fenway’s Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle.

Brickyard 400 polesitter Juan Pablo Montoya was 14th during the 1-hour practice session.

A final 1-hour practice is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EDT Saturday on the 2.5-mile oval.
