Hendrick Motorsports driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. endured a difficult season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2009.
Earnhardt Jr. went winless in his second season with Hendrick and failed to make the Chase For The Sprint Cup. And early in the year, cousin Tony Eury Jr. moved from his job as Earnhardt Jr.’s crew chief and was replaced by Lance McGrew.
Still, Earnhardt Jr. remained the most popular driver in the sport, as witnessed by his seventh consecutive NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver Award.
