LONG POND, Pa. – Richard Petty wouldn’t confirm that Boston Ventures will be the investment company that is going to purchase part of Petty Enterprises.
“I’d rather not say anything,” Petty said Sunday at Pocono Raceway. “If everything goes down like it’s supposed to, we’ll probably let you know the middle of the week.”
Petty Enterprises has talked to several people and investment groups and sources indicated that Boston Ventures emerged as a leader in the talks about two months ago.
“We’re getting close,” Petty said. “That’s all I can tell you right now. We’re getting further down the line. It’s a little more complicated than
just doing it. It involves so many people and so much stuff.”
Boston Ventures has investments in various media, publishing, entertainment and communications businesses.
When asked about the Petty interest last month, a Boston Ventures spokesman said the company does not speculate on potential investments.
