NASCAR officials to look at No. 18, but do not anticipate issues with car

HAMPTON, Ga. – NASCAR officials opted to take the rear-end housing of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup car driven by Kyle Busch to electronically check the measurements following Sunday's Pep Boys 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said.

Tharp said that NASCAR does not anticipate there will be a problem with the car, but wanted to check it more closely at the Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C.

What does this headline have to do with Jr. people leave him out of your comments. This has do do with the 18 car and JGR. I myself say it is about time they checked Kyles car. There is something going on there and it is about time nascar does what they need to do. Lets see if they are really cheating but on the other hand they need to look at Johnson also.

Why should we leave Jr. or any other driver out of out comments, I didn't see anything negative about "Go Jr."

Kyle Busch is an arrogant wipe and has been shown up and shut up by other driver's.
Now if he could lose the attitude he just might become popular like Edward's,Johnson, and Dale Jr.

    Go Carl !

Beth, why would NASCAR have to look at Johnson's car? If Johnson were cheating, don't you think the other three Hendrick teams would be competitive in the points? It seems like every comment you make is bashing a driver you don't like in some way.

On the topic of the article, I think it's odd they took the rear end of the car just to check it out. Either it met the measurements or not. If NASCAR needs to "take another look" at this car, then how credible are their other statements about cars measuring too low?

Why is it every driver that becomes successful is cheating. Shouldn't Stewart and Hamlin be cheating too? Come on people, be race fans because you love racing, not driver fans because your're emotional.

I'm sure NASCAR does everything possible to prevent cheating and with the new COT there is a lot of new places that should be checked periodicallty. Unfortunately, there are race teams who try to either bend the rules or outright cheat, hoping to get an edge. I have wondered how Kyle seems to straighten his car out more frequently from seemingly impossible situations than other drivers. Is it because his rear end is slightly wider, causing better recovery? I do applaud NASCAR for its policing policies within the worlds greatest sport. I may be the oddest fan of NASCAR and I do have my favorite drivers, but as the situation unfolds I find myself cheering more for the driver and team trying their hardest to win in a fair and just manner. Carl Edwards hitting the wall on purpose, knowing it was the only way he might beat Johnson, that's the kind of driver I'm cheering for!!!

Come on guys, why does there have to be something wrong? Give credit where it's due. JJ and Kyle are both excellent drivers. Attitude? Attitude? Carl has a "big bully" attitude and his and Roush's comments on a mulligan? Get real!!

I agree with Gary and Glen. Even though I am a dedicated Jr. fan, I do find myself rooting for other drivers.Like when ANY driver has to start at the back (for whatever) and he does get through the pack and contends for the lead. NOW THAT'S A DRIVER! It doesn't matter to me if it's not my driver. As for Kyle Busch, apparently, he might have tried to get away with doing something and got caught.THAT'S NASCAR! That kind of thing has been going on since the beginning of the sport. Sometimes you get away with something, sometimes you don't. So root for your driver, scream when he gets shafted on the track, and be happy when he wins. If he don't, that's racing!
