MADISON, Ill. - Making a rare Nationwide Series appearance for Roush Fenway Racing, Jamie McMurray took the pole for Saturday night's Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 at Gateway International Raceway.

McMurray, who is in the No. 17 Roush Fenway car this weekend most often driven by Matt Kenseth, topped the speed chart with a lap of 133.101 mph to earn the top starting spot for just his fifth Nationwide start of 2008.

Chip Ganassi Racing's Reed Sorenson posted the second fastest speed at 133.089, followed by Roush Fenway's Carl Edwards at 132.751.

Joey Logano (Joe Gibbs Racing) and points leader Clint Bowyer (Richard Childress Racing) rounded out the top five.

Sixth through tenth in speed were Steve Wallace (Rusty Wallace Racing), Jason Keller (CJM Racing), Mike Bliss (Phoenix Racing), David Stremme (Rusty Wallace Racing) and David Ragan (Roush Fenway).

Brad Baker, Andy Ponstein, Kevin Lepage and Nick Tucker failed to qualify. Tucker spun and smacked the wall on his qualifying lap.

James Buescher (Braun Racing) scraped the wall during his attempt, but the crew was repairing the primary car.
