Martin Truex Jr. leads happy hour

INDIANAPOLIS – Michael Waltrip Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. ended the day atop the speed chart, leading the final 60-minute practice session for Sunday’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Truex posted a fast lap of 175.627 mph, just ahead of Richard Childress Racing teammates Jeff Burton (175.531) and Clint Bowyer (175.456). Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards and Hendrick Motorsports’ Mark Martin completed the top five.

Pole winner Juan Pablo Montoya managed just the 18th fastest time of the session while NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader Kevin Harvick clocked in with the 12th-best lap.

Sunday’s race, the 20th stop on this year’s 36-race schedule, is slated for a 1 p.m. EDT start.
