Kyle Busch's agent says driver would 'leave the door open' for Formula One

LAS VEGAS - Kyle Busch's agent said the young NASCAR star would "certainly leave the door open" to try Formula One "at some point" after Busch's name was mentioned during a press conference announcing a new American-based F1 team.
Officials with the USF1 team, which will be based out of Charlotte, said it would be interested in having Busch drive its car.
Busch is under contract at Joe Gibbs Racing through the end of next season.
"Obviously, it's very flattering for him to be mentioned for a Formula One ride, especially an American-based team," said Jeff Dickerson, Busch's agent. "Thanks to Toyota, he was excited at the prospect of getting to test a Formula One car this past offseason.
"While it didn't work out then, he would certainly leave the door open to try it out at some point. At the same time, he's currently focused on winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series championships for Joe Gibbs Racing."
IndyCar Series drivers Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti were also among the drivers mentioned as possibilities by the USF1 team.

Feb 24, 2009 at 6:49 PMThe NASCAR races are turning into F-1 races. Why leave? The thing that NASCAR has over the F-1 circuit is marketing. Can you go into a restaurant and see a F-1 driver(I don't even know the name of one). But, I can sit there and see Kasey Kahne all night. So, that is what I would call exposure.

Feb 24, 2009 at 6:51 PMI think Kyle would like to try F1 but not at this time he still wants to win the cup championship and nationwide to. I'm surprised all you busch bashers haven't really jumped on this article. But its early yet. AJ was on Nascar Now this afternoon and was asked about F1 and he said he was still going to run the 8 races he has signed up for. Then who knows.

If the idiots running NASCAR don't make the racing better by letting the teams build cars that are "STOCK".... let'em race, let'em live, let'em rock!!!
IF... they don't bring back early start times... 5pm start time doesn't work for me!... how about you??
IF... they don't get back to the roots of the sport... LA county has a population of almost 10 million, 36 million in the state... and they can't, nor have they ever filled that boring track... could it be because the race is so BORING???
I believe that F1 might just be something to consider.... Anything would have been better that that boring race on Sunday...

Feb 24, 2009 at 10:02 PMTo race in F1 you have to be the total package. Kyle Busch is just a nerdy kid from Las Vegas with a bad attitude. F1 would chew him up and spit him out. Too bad because I would enjoy not seeing him on race weekends.

Feb 25, 2009 at 7:26 AMF1 drivers (and, consequently, F1 races) tend to be about as exciting and interesting as a Hendrick driver on Quaaludes. Kyle certainly has the neccessary talent, and I think he'd learn very quickly how to run those cars, but his personality and driving style is best suited to stock cars. USF1 should look to the current US open-wheel ranks first. There are a few very deserving IRL drivers without rides this season who would make great candidates.

I think he's just messing with us, you know stirring the pot so to speak. This sport will go on with or without him though, so whatever Kyle if you leave NASCAR please don't come back.

Feb 26, 2009 at 2:30 PMTony Stewart could race them and beat them. And kyle Busch could also. If they could work something out so they could race on some weekends that cup has off. But ALL drivers have to go through a regiment of testing for a year [I think] before they can actually race a car. F1 racing's not boring though. There road courses and you can't see the whole track.Theres probably several drivers that could race F1 sucsesfully. Not just Montoya. J.G.& J.J. from Hendricks and the Roush drivers and D.E.I./Ganasi drivers and the Childress drivers It would be good to see our boys go to head with those Cats from all over and beat the h&LL out of them.
