DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch says he will be ready for the Coke Zero 400 tonight after being administered some intravenous fluids as a precautionary measure following about a 70-minute stint Saturday in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

Busch, who teamed with Scott Speed in a Chip Ganassi Racing entry, went straight to the infield care center following his time in the closed-cockpit car during a day when the temperature outside was in the mid-90s and it was much hotter in the car.

“[it was] very, very, hot in those cars,” Busch said. “Just the biggest thing was to get some fluids back in me since I know I lost a ton of fluids. The faster you can get to the medical center after getting out of the car the faster I could get taken care of and get some rest before tonight’s race.”

Busch qualified the car and started 10th, which is where he and Speed finished the event. Busch had never driven a car in the Grand-Am series.

“We ended up getting our way back up to fourth or fifth I believe and then I kept missing some of the breaking zones due to downforce,” Busch said. “These cars are just so much different. I was off in Turn 1 also and that’s why I just wasn’t able to keep the brakes on the car.

“I did finally find a rhythm from about the fourth to maybe the 18th lap and got fairly comfortable. … It was fun.”

Speed also went to the infield medical center for IV fluids as a precautionary measure after his run.
