DOVER, Del. - Kyle Busch seems to have some regrets about confronting Jeff Gordon on pit road after last Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

After refusing to discuss the nature of his conversation with Gordon in a postrace news conference, Busch gave his version of the conversation on Friday at Dover International Speedway. He also said he could have picked a better time to approach the four-time champion.

"I tried to get a reasoning there after the race and it was just the wrong time to do it," the 23-year-old Busch said. "All is cool now. We talked ... and he just told me that his car wasn’t balanced the way it needed to be and he was just fighting for position. I recognize that and feel for him there that he didn’t have quite the car he wanted to pass people so he just had to fight a little harder to hold onto it.”

Gordon, who lost third to Busch in the final laps after battling for the spot, took umbrage with the way the Joe Gibbs Racing driver approached him after the race. Gordon said that night that Busch gave him "the finger" and was upset because he believed Gordon had raced him too hard near the finish.

The two former Hendrick Motorsports teammates talked during the Sprint Cup test earlier this week at Pocono Raceway, and this time the conversation seems to have eased tensions.

"I think he was just - the adrenaline was still going after the race and whatnot," Busch said. "My mistake, but I learned from that. He gave me a bit of advice if there was a next time for that.”
