Jon Wood will drive the Wood Brothers Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entry this weekend at Richmond International Raceway.
This marks Wood’s second consecutive weekend in the team’s No. 21 that he shares with Bill Elliott and Marcos Ambrose.
Wood, 26, will need to qualify for Saturday’s Crown Royal 400 based on speed since the team is outside the top 35 in owners points. Wood, the son of team co-owner Eddie Wood, qualified his way into last weekend’s race at Talladega Superspeedway. Since the car was set up for qualifying, though, he pitted early so his team could make significant changes to the setup and settled for a 36th-place finish after starting 12th.
The team is 43rd in owners points, 209 points behind the 35th-place team.
