Two-time defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, who typically doesn’t race many events other than Sprint Cup races, has added the Aug. 9 Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen and the Aug. 20 Craftsman Truck Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway to his schedule.

Johnson will drive the No. 48 JR Motorsports entry at The Glen and will make his truck series debut in the No. 81 Randy Moss Motorsports entry at Bristol.

“Watkins Glen and Bristol are two tracks where I really want a win,” the Hendrick Motorsports driver said. “I enjoy racing at Watkins Glen and for some reason always seem to be a little better there than Sonoma. We’ve had some top-fives, so hopefully this will put us in the win column.

“As for the trucks, I am really looking forward to that. I have never run a truck race, so it should be fun. Heck, my brother Jarit has run more than me, but it’s going to be a good time. I’m excited to run Randy’s truck. Hopefully we can get them a good finish.”

Johnson will have sponsorship from Lowe’s for the Nationwide race and Lowe’s vendor Kobalt Tools for the truck event.
