Joey Logano misses drivers meeting, must start last in Budweiser Shootout

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Joe Gibbs Racing’s Joey Logano will start in the rear of the field for the Budweiser Shootout for missing the prerace drivers meeting. Logano was scheduled to start 19th, but he will start last in the 28-car field because the Automobile Racing Club of America Re/Max Series race lasted past the start of Budweiser Shootout drivers meeting.
Logano finished second in the ARCA race behind James Buescher, who will compete in the Camping World Truck Series for Circle Bar Racing this year.
The Budweiser Shootou is 75 laps, split into a 25-lap opening segment and then a 50-lap final segment. All laps will count and all restarts will be double-file with the lapped cars in the back. Like a normal race, the race could be extended for one attempt at a green-white-checkered finish.
Between the two segments, there will be a 10-minute break where teams can service their car on pit road.
Also, in order to emphasize the yellow-line rule where passes are not permitted, NASCAR has made the single yellow line into a double-yellow line. The second yellow line was painted on the inside of the existing yellow line.

Feb 8, 2009 at 5:28 PMThat really seemed like a lame ruling. It wasn't like the NASCAR officials and everyone watching the ARCA race didn't know where he was. Rules are rules for NASCAR to enforce unless.....well we all know the answer to that one.

Feb 8, 2009 at 6:22 PMWerner, it's my understanding you can be on the yellow, but not below. Of course it's Nascars judgement call either way and you can not advance your position.

Feb 9, 2009 at 12:35 PMYellow line easy to understand, $ lane highway you are forced to the left of the line to avoid an accident, (NO PROBLEM) You pull out to left of line to pass onother car (YOU IN BIG TROUBLE), NASCAR has the same rules, If you have a drivers license you should know that.
