FORT WORTH, Texas - Kyle Busch likely woke up this morning with one thing on his mind: History.
Today at Texas Motor Speedway, Busch has the chance to do something no NASCAR driver has ever done: Sweep all three NASCAR national series races in a single weekend.
"I hope it happens," he said Saturday. "I think it would be the coolest thing. It's never been done before, but I've come close a couple times."
Busch won the Camping World Truck Series race at Texas on Friday night, then followed it up with a Nationwide Series victory on Saturday afternoon.
Can he win today's Sprint Cup race in the first start for new crew chief Dave Rogers?
"If the luck is on our side and we play it smart, then we could come out of here three-for-three and that would be pretty special," Busch said.
Busch has come close twice before. In 2007 at Phoenix, he won the Truck and Nationwide races before finishing eighth in the Cup race. And earlier this year, he had victories in the first two legs but managed only a third-place finish in the Cup race at Auto Club Speedway.
In August, Busch won the Truck and Sprint Cup races at Bristol, but was 28th in the Nationwide race.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver said he believes anything is possible. When he climbed from his car on Saturday, he flashed some numbers to the crowd. What was he saying?
"That's two," he said. "One more to go."
