Joe Gibbs Racing driver Joey Logano will drive at least two ARCA races – at Daytona in February and at Pocono in June – in addition to his full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and part-time Nationwide Series schedules.
He will drive the ARCA events as part of a partnership with Venturini Motorsports.
The ARCA race at Daytona will help prepare Logano for the Daytona 500, which will be Logano’s first start as driver of the No. 20 JGR entry as he replaces Tony Stewart.
Because the new testing rules will not allow Logano to test at those tracks, Logano will get valuable track time, including an ARCA test session at Daytona later this month.

Dec 8, 2008 at 4:36 PMWhy can't he do the ABC (ARCA, Busch (former name), Cup) all part-time to get some needed experience, like Ryan Newman did?

Dec 8, 2008 at 5:19 PMOnly reason he can't do that Patty is because Joe Gibbs doesn't work like that. He puts drivers in his cars before they are ready. Sometimes it works out (Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart), sometimes it doesn't (JJ Yeley, Jason Leffler). The only reason Logano is racing these two ARCA races is so that he will be better prepared for his Cup ride. He showed the ARCA series is a joke when he raced at Rockingham this year and had everyone but one or two drivers a lap down. He can drive, he just needs experience, which these couple ARCA races are meant to do. It doesn't hurt that they are at tracks he needs practice at either.

Dec 8, 2008 at 10:25 PMHmm well let's see Chris, he finished better than former champion Kurt Busch, Juan Pablo Montoya, and several others in those races...off only Nationwide experience. Plus he got rained-out of qualifying for others...

Dec 9, 2008 at 2:21 PMLets just put it in a nut shell once and for all, most of the fans think he needed more time in the nationwide series. He needed to win at least 1 championship there. A lot of your better drivers have won titles in nationwide series and that is what he should be doing.
