Jimmie Johnson sweeps final practice sessions at Bristol in preparation for Food City 500
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson swept the two Sprint Cup practice sessions Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway, topping the charts in the final practice for the Food City 500.
Johnson turned a lap of 122.287 mph while Earnhardt Ganassi Racing’s Juan Pablo Montoya was second at 122.046.
Rounding out the top five were Roush Fenway Racing’s Matt Kenseth, Earnhardt Ganassi’ Jamie McMurray and race polesitter Joey Logano of Joe Gibbs Racing.
Kyle Busch, who won both races at Bristol last year, was 21st – his best ranking in any of the three practices all weekend.
The race is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT Sunday.
