Jimmie Johnson prepared for busy week of New York activities

Hendrick Motorsports' Jimmie Johnson is on tap for a busy week leading up to Friday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup banquet at New York City's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, where he will be honored as the 2008 series champion.

Johnson, who captured his third consecutive title in the Nov. 16 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, is scheduled to arrive in New York on Monday with his wife, Chandra.

The couple will participate in the annual Champion's Welcome dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Executive Kitchen.

On Tuesday, Johnson will participate in another Champions Week tradition: photo shoots at New York landmarks. Later that evening, he'll be a guest on the Motor Racing Network's “NASCAR Live.”

Johnson's Wednesday itinerary begins with his ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange and also includes a March of Dimes luncheon and the Sprint Media Celebration.

Thursday's schedule will be highlighted by the annual NASCAR National Motorsports Press Association Myers Brothers Media Luncheon, where Johnson will be joined by the other 11 drivers in the 2008 Chase For The Sprint Cup.

Following the awards luncheon, Johnson will participate in the traditional Times Square photo shoot outside the Hard Rock Café and then attend the annual Stewies Awards, orchestrated by fellow Cup champion Tony Stewart, at Sirius/XM Satellite Radio studios.

Are you kidding me! The 'other 11 drivers in the 2008 Chase For The Sprint Cup'? I thought it was the Top 10. Well, surely Junior won't be there cause he's already said it wasn't a big deal. He only wanted to show up if he was the champion. Might not be showing up for a long time.

He will probably show up as 'The Most Popular Driver'.
Green Flag must be one of the other 50% that ain't Junior fans.

What's up with Nascar rules only 10 drivers will be on stage? so what are the other 2 doing in NY?
Trying to get extra 5 minutes of fame?
This week is only for the ten most consistant drivers in the season the other 2 move on and try to be better next season.
