Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Greg Biffle cars clear NASCAR inspection

All of the cars that NASCAR took back from Lowe’s Motor Speedway following Saturday night’s NASCAR Banking 500 Sprint Cup race have cleared inspection and there are no issues.

The cars of race-winner Jimmie Johnson and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Mark Martin and Roush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle were inspected Monday, and all were cleared, according to a NASCAR spokesman.

Officials typically take two cars (the winner and at least one other) back to the sanctioning body’s research and development center in Concord, N.C., for a closer look, and the two it took back after Dover – Johnson and Martin – were legal but pushed the limits of certain tolerances, NASCAR officials said.

In the three weeks since that race, NASCAR has taken the Johnson and Martin cars, as well as others, back to the center.

Nascar just doesnt want Mark Martin or Jimmie Johnson to win the championship. But I am hoping they find something wrong JJ's car. And that gives Mark the chance to win the championship. Since Nascar has screwed over once or twice before (4 to be exact).

Nascar saying the 48 and 5 pushed the tolerances irritated me. Having worked with CNC (computerised numerical control)machines I ran very close tolerances. I would say that the 48 and 5 were not LUCKY but rather they have very skilled machinists. The idea is to gain an advantage by using the utmost of the tolerances.

Oh, Pepper, you took the words right out of my mouth!!! Use every bit you can, within the limits, to help your driver as much as you can. Everyone whining about "cheaten Chad" is just jealous!

I agree with #2 and #3 totally. Those Whiners that claim cheating better get a life OR better yet---sit back on your sofa and use your remote to tune in "The Guiding Light" or some other Soap Opera.

I AGREE. THE TEMPLATES USED NOW ARE SO EXACT THAT IT TAKES A VERY SMART CREW CHIEF TO STAY WITHIN THE RULES AND GO TO THE MAXIMUM. CHAD IS THE SMOKY YUNICK OF TODAY AND WHEN YOU HAVE THE BEST DRIVER, IT'S EVEN BETTER. I'M A TONY STEWART FAN BUT HAVE TO ADMIT, J.J. AND CHAD ARE HARD TO BEAT. THEY SOMETIMES HAVE A BAD HANDLING CAR BUT SEEM TO WORK THE WHOLE RACE IN GETTING IT BETTER AT THE END. I REALLY ADMIRE THEM.

they were close last time and told not to push the limit...this is getting old...are they trying to drive a point saying that Hendrick doesn't cheat?....

If tolerances the width of a few pieces of paper matter that much, then something is very wrong with the rules. This is not F1, nor do we want that. I think everybody is making far too much about this. Plus, isn't it possible for a car to shift a few thousandths during 200mph air pressure force for 500 miles? Or a slight touch of the wall re: centerline measurement? If this new car is so touchy that a width of a piece of paper gives a 3/10ths per lap advantage.... I just don't believe it.

I understand taking the winning car. Taking a random car, too. But why is Mark's car alway the random car. Doesn't seem to random to me.

Hendrick has cheated in everything he has done and the records prove it,but like other billionaires has always gotten out of most of the charges! I think out of the twenty some odd criminal charges against him he was allowed to plead guilty to a couple of mail fraud charges, but got suspended sentences because of illness! Nascar's "Big Bosses" are just like Boss Hendrick, and as we all know the Rich cater to a protect each other. Precisely WHY Hendrick has won so many times. Get real #1 ,if Nascar's "Big Bosses in the Control Box" didn't want Hendrick/Johnson to win--they would have evened the "unequal playing field " many years ago! They got it just like they want it==The Richest teams win the biggest Nascar Prizes because those teams do more to line the Nascar "Big Bosses's" pockets!! THINK ABOUT THE TRUTH=Nascar is a "RULES CONTROLLED SHOW" like WCW or Roller Derby! On the Hendrick Cars"pushing the limits of certain tolerances"==That's Nascar "Big Bosses's" way of saying: "The cars were a little bit illegal, but with Hendrick's Money and Political Clout,we're not going to level the playing field!

a rule is a rule...if the dimensions change during a race, then you better allow for it when building the car...and if this were F1, we wouldn't even be talking about this matter...did you see the gas hose leave with the car?...50 grand fine...they know it before they leave the trak...penalties are much harsher and final...NASCAR has too much politics involved...

Careful there #10. Have you gone to the bottom of the Scene's Today's NASCAR News and see who the main sponsor is? You might get your posts eliminated. - - - I am wondering WHY Biffle's car was confiscated, since HE crashed and there is no way that everything would be exactly the same IF they were on the edge like Hendrick's cars are. Yet he passed. Were they just looking in the engine, etc., to see HOW the heck he could be nearly as fast as the Hendrick cars? . . . .Hmmmmmmmmmm!?!?!

#7 I haven't mic'd a piece of paper in a long time but if I remember right they're about .003 (3 thousandths of an inch). So a few pieces of paper would be .009 Nascar just mandated a restrictor plate change of 1/64 of an inch which is .015625. Which is really moot because they now have machines capable of running within tolerances of 1-2 microns.
25 microns = .001. So 1 micron would equal .00004. (4 hundred thousandths or as us in the business say 40 millionths) Its really quite amazing what modern machinery can now do. Its a shame most of these machines are made by foreign countries. When you are maching a piston or cylinder wall you can make them really really close to the limits of the tolerance and then allow for expansion from the heat. What I am saying is Hendrick can get some really great CNC machines and very qualified machinist to make his engine parts, chassis parts, etc.

i happen to think all the hendricks drivers are a great group of guys including the crew chiefs. if you can't sit back and enjoy the race and the effort the guys put into it maybe you need a channel change.
