Four-time NASCAR Cup champion Jeff Gordon hosted the eighth annual Gordon's Celebrity Bowl last Thursday in Indianapolis, where his Jeff Gordon Foundation generated $250,000 for Riley Hospital for Children.

The money from the invitation-only event will be invested in pediatric research being conducted at the Indianapolis-based hospital in partnership with Indiana University.

Joining the patients and physicians in attendance were Cup drivers Sam Hornish Jr., Greg Biffle, Kasey Kahne, Kurt Busch and Indianapolis mayor Greg Ballard.

"We are very excited to have raised $1.5 million in support of Riley Hospital for Children during this event's eight-year history," Gordon said. "Funds raised from this year's tournament will support their ongoing research for pediatric cancer."

Team members bowled three games - each with a different celebrity - and had their photo taken with Gordon. A live auction was held with a chance to win prizes through the "Pins for Pediatrics" raffle.

Gordon, who grew up in nearby Pittsboro, Ind., has been a long-time supporter of the hospital, where the play room is named in recognition of his contributions.
