How many times has Mark Martin gained more than 108 points on Jimmie Johnson?
By SceneDaily Staff
Monday, November 16, 2009
Hendrick Motorsports driver Mark Martin has made up more than 108 points on teammate Jimmie Johnson in one race nine times in his NASCAR Cup career.
Why is that significant? Because Johnson leads Martin by 108 points in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings with only this weekend's Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway left in the 2009 season.

Nov 16, 2009 at 11:08 AMThese no doubt all involve a wreck or engine failure on the 48. Unless the 48 car is not on the track for most of the race at Homestead, the Chase is over.

Nov 16, 2009 at 1:00 PMLOL, so, out of the past 7 years of racing we're all supposed to be excited because Mark beat Jimmie by over 108 points on 9 occasions. The SceneDaily staff has to quit being part of the NASCAR propoganda machine because the racing right now isn't fun to watch. Blame it on the economy, the car, the Chase, whatever. Plain and simple, until more teams can compete with the 48, this sport isn't fun to watch.

Nov 16, 2009 at 4:02 PMI hate that having one team that is so great makes the sport look bad. That seems wrong but I have not enjoyed racing this year either. No matter what you think of Dale Jr. he brings excitement to the sport when he runs well. Jr. we need you back. Take care of whatever your issues are over the off season and come to Daytona ready to win.

Nov 16, 2009 at 4:53 PMYou forgot the night of the Richmond race when, without even turning a WHEEL, Mark magically "made up" a total of two HUNDRED and FIFTY THREE points on Johnson when the Chase "welfare points" were handed out.

Nov 17, 2009 at 10:43 AMThis is a ridiculous "stat." Out of how many starts? Over 200? What does that equate to on a percentage basis? Less than 5%? Why not write an article entitled "Mark Martin has failed to make up more than 108 points on Johnson over 95% of the time..." Oh wait, I think I know.

Nov 17, 2009 at 11:15 AMYes, Packer football WILL, IF they play like they did Dallas and NOT Tampa Bay. - - - - - - It is the writer's JOB to TRY and excite us. IF he doesn't he could lose his/her job, as there won't be any fans for them to write for. . . . . MY thing didn't work the right way last weekend, but has most of the year. I will try one more time, this week, and see IF we can make it EIGHT!. IF NOT, see you NEXT year, but will be pulling for Carl then, Mark second to him.
