Hendrick Motorsports' Jimmie Johnson has already begun to enjoy the perks of his fourth consecutive NASCAR Cup championship.
Just days after winning the title, Johnson was the toast of the town. Tuesday, he spent time in New York City to celebrate Jimmie Johnson Day.
He flipped the switch on the Empire State Building as it lit up in the blue, white and yellow colors of Johnson's team. Then he received the proclamation of the official day in New York and posed for photos at the landmark with Major League Baseball World Series champion Johnny Damon.
Finally, he posed with his trophy 103 floors above Manhattan.
Johnson will be in Las Vegas next week for the official Champion's Week activities, which culminate in the annual awards ceremony Friday night at the Wynn Hotel.

Nov 25, 2009 at 7:21 PMI have said it many times but it is never as appropriate as it is now. It's good to be King! He deserves all the good and great things that come his way. Such an outstanding role model for the young kids today who are searching for someone to look up to. Put his driving aside. Jimmie Johnson is first and foremost a good person and that is worth more than all 4 of his Sprint Cup titles.

Nov 26, 2009 at 10:27 PMI don't care what anyone says, Jimmy can race! I just hope they get rid of the chase for the fans and see what Jimmy can do when it's not up to only 10 races. I'd like to see him win it with 36 races, rather than only 10. He hasn't had to so far. Jimmy doesn't cause controversy, he just races. My idea of a racer. Go, Jimmy. It'll be 5 next year. I'm looking forward to it. Unless they get rid of the chase. Then I look to him to be racing all year.
