BROOKLYN, Mich.Kevin Harvick continued his recent surge Sunday with a solid eighth-place finish in the 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway. That’s Harvick’s third consecutive top-10 finish, and it moved him up three spots to eighth in the Sprint Cup standings.

Harvick has struggled at the 2-mile track recently, finishing out of the top 10 seven of the last 10 races here. But Sunday, Harvick was strong.

"To finish eighth at Michigan is almost as good as a win,” Harvick said. “We have been pretty consistent the last couple of months and hopefully we will be able to carry this momentum into the Chase. I just want to thank all my guys for all the hard work and extra hours they have been putting in to make these cars so fast."

Harvick has finished in the top 10 in four of the last five races – and that came after a streak of eight consecutive races outside the top 10. Harvick is still looking for his first victory of the year, but he seems a solid threat when the Chase For The NASCAR Sprint Cup begins in four races.

"It has been a great few months and we are looking forward to keeping it going,” Harvick said. “Definitely a good day that we needed. A couple guys had some bad luck. We will just keep at it – that is what we have to keep doing, prevent those bad days.”

Happy did a great job at M.I.S.!! Things are starting to pull together at R.C.R. and Kevin will be right in the middle of it.He's smooth and fast and now the #29 cars are starting to get faster. The pit crew's doing a great job holding his position or advancing him on the stops, Kevin's peaking at the right time so it's LOOKING GOOD FOR HAPPY!!!!!!!!
