Wood Brothers Racing's "Salute the Troops" message on the side of driver Jon Wood's No. 21 Sprint Cup car didn't vanish with Wood's failure to qualify for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
After Wood missed the the field in Thursday's qualifying session, Hall of Fame Racing co-owner Tom Garfinkel offered to display the decal along with the Air Force logo on his team's No. 96 Toyota that made the race with driver J.J. Yeley.
"We feel their offer to help came from the heart," said Wood Brothers Racing co-owner Eddie Wood, who gladly accepted.
The Salute the Troops decals were to be placed on the Wood Brothers car this Memorial Day weekend to honor members of the Air Force and other branches of the Armed Forces for their service.
