CONCORD, N.C.  — Greg Biffle says he harbors no resentment toward teammate Carl Edwards after last weekend’s incident at Talladega Superspeedway in which Edwards sent Biffle into a spin, setting off a chain reaction wreck that collected 12 cars.

The two were nose to tail in a tight pack late in the race when Edwards attempted to bump draft his teammate into the lead in Turn 3. Instead of taking the lead, Biffle lost control of his Ford, taking Edwards and teammate Matt Kenseth along with him among others.

Athough the wreck cost all three Roush Fenway drivers precious ground in the Chase For The Sprint Cup standings heading into this weekend’s Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, there doesn’t appear to be any ill feelings from Biffle toward Edwards.

The two discussed the incident on Sunday night after the Talladega race.

“He understands that he made a mistake and there’s nothing we can do about that now.  I didn’t understand at first what had happened,” Biffle said on Thursday at LMS. “We had been bump drafting – not Carl and I – but we had been bump drafting in the corners a little bit throughout the race, which, done properly, hadn’t been a problem all day.  You’ve got to be real careful about it, so I had a real problem understanding what happened and why the car turned sideways like it did – so fast that I didn’t have any time to react whatsoever.  I went back and once I watched the tape, then it was clear what exactly happened.”

What happened, according to Biffle, was that Edwards failed to completely align his front bumper with the Biffle’s rear bumper entering the corner. Biffle believes that because Edwards’ push was at an angle instead of straight on, he lost control.

“When he pushes the car has to go forward, the energy has to go somewhere,” the driver of the No. 16 Ford said. “Well, the easiest path of resistance for that car was up the race track for the rear bumper because it got pushed a little bit to the left side and it just squirted the back of the car out, like you tried to squeeze it and it shot it that way.  It’s just probably a miscalculation on his part on being lined up enough. ... We haven’t really talked about that because I hadn’t really seen the video and we talked Sunday night. I know he didn’t mean to do it.

“Certainly he didn’t want to wreck himself because that’s what he did, he wrecked himself. Certainly that wasn’t his intention and I understand that. All we can do is learn from it and go on and move forward.”

Biffle said he thought Kenseth might have actually had a tougher time dealing with the incident. Kenseth was the first driver to get collected in the fray who wasn’t part of the initial contact.

“I think that Matt probably took it a little bit harder than I did because Matt was an innocent bystander in that thing and got caught up in it and he’s had a rough start to the Chase,” said Biffle, who entered Talladega third in the standings and 30 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson and left in the same position but 77 points outside of first. “But I think all of us are hard drivers and we understand that we’re gonna have problems in these close quarters.”

I'm not sure who's the bigger baby-- Harvick or Kenseth. Those two guys could learn a thing or two from the Biff.

Man what a guy!! No hard feelings, no temper, no bad words.... The man Biffle is not only a very kind person folks, this also shows he just keeps saving all his energies, mind and body, for the last few races!! Keepin it cool and head on straight. He is, after all, going to be this years NASCAR CHAMPION!!

Carl should have known better. Look how many guys got caught up in his mistake. And for Carl to approach Kevin Harvick at a time as this at LOWES, Carl should think twice before approaching a guy that he contributed to wrecking last week. GO SMILEY. Carl suppose to be the good ole boy, well, when I saw him last season draw his fist at his teammate, Matt, I knew then Carl had a good front but the cameras caught him FIRST HAND with his FIST.!!!!!!! Yea, the Biff has such a soothing voice, he is always the same even on the Monday night on Speed, so I like the Biff's attitude too, but I do not like the way CARL approached HARVICK. Not my business but I am a true FAN of Nascar.

Biffle is taking it better than he should be... I'll bet if it wouldn't have been a teammate he may have had a little different opinion of the situation.
