Jeff Gordon's last win at Bristol Motor Speedway came in 2002 and ended a 31-race winless streak.

Entering Saturday night's Sharpie 500 Sprint Cup race at the .533-mile track, Gordon hasn't won in 28 races.

Will Bristol once again be the site where the four-time champ ends a drought?

He'd like for it to be, especially considering that he's coming off a crash-induced 42nd-place finish in last Sunday's 3M Performance 400 at Michigan.

"We had a great car at Michigan but obviously did not get the result we were looking for," said Gordon, who tumbled three spots to ninth in the Sprint Cup standings. "We dropped positions in the standings, and now we have to enter the next few races with a different mindset."

That mindset is to hold nothing back rather than running conservatively with just three races to go before the field for the Chase For The NASCAR Sprint Cup is set. Being ninth and just 82 points ahead of 13th-place, Gordon believes the best approach is to run aggressively.

"Before, we were in a position where taking risks wasn't an option," said the Hendrick Motorsports driver, who has five Bristol wins. "We had a pretty comfortable margin on the transfer spot, and we didn't want to jeopardize that.

"We're not in that position anymore, so now we must go all out and see where we end up."

I am hoping JG wins at Bristol but I have ZERO faith in S Letarte. Sometimes I question his choice of pit stalls after JG has qualified in top 5 or 6. Does anyone wonder if Chad is really sharing info???

You have to wonder if Chad is sharing with either of the other crew chiefs. lets face it both Jeff and Jr have dropped in the last couple of races. Jimmy has gone up. Does make a fan of hendrick wonder does it not?

As a longtime Gordon fan, it's very disheartening to see and hear what Jeff goes through with his set ups week after week. I do not blame Steve Letarte. It's common knowledge that crew members work on both the 48 and 24 teams in the shop. This may sound crazy...but, i'm starting to believe that someone in the shop is drawing an extra paycheck from the 48 team, to pull some shenanigans with the 24 car. I know this sounds like a big conspiracy theory...but, somethings wrong, and its its certainly NOT a lack of desire or talent on Jeff Gordons part .

Chad and Steve share information, both teams are in the same shop. The reason given for the performance differences is that even though the cars have very similar setups, Jeffs driving is different that Jimmies, he has admitted it. He likes a car one way and Jimmie likes it another. Seems like Steve has to do a little better at finding that happy medium. I wish all HMS drivers success this weekend.

I think Jeffie needs to drive in Nationwide races to get it back, IF he wants it bad enough this could be what he needs to push him bad to the top. More practice with the team...reguardless if the car is different.
