Goodyear schedules pair of tire tests for Indy
BROOKLYN, Mich. – Goodyear has set a pair of tire tests for Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the site of a caution-filled Brickyard 400 last month where NASCAR had to limit green-flag runs to 13 or fewer laps because of issues with excessive tire wear.
Goodyear will return to the famed 2.5-mile oval Sept. 22-23, likely with three teams. One of those will be the No. 45 Petty Enterprises team, a Goodyear spokesman confirmed Saturday.
The second test will be Oct. 6-8 with likely more than 10 teams.
Goodyear conducted a regularly scheduled tire test this past week at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin and Roush Fenway Racing’s Matt Kenseth participated in the test.
