Germain Racing has entered the Kobalt Tools 500 this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway in a move a top team official hopes will boost its NASCAR Sprint Cup program.
The team, which is fielding the No. 13 Toyota for Max Papis in half of the Cup races this season, will enter the No. 35 this weekend for Todd Bodine. Team general manager Mike Hillman Sr. is listed as the owner, and Randy Goss will serve as the crew chief.
The number of races the team will run with the No. 35 is still to be determined.
“We are running the [No.] 35 Camry at Atlanta to gain more data for our Cup program and help us keep looking toward the future ...,” said Hillman. “The primary focus … is to collect more data to continue to improve Germain Racing’s Cup Series program.”

Mar 3, 2009 at 11:34 AMWho cares, I just hope he stays out of Smokes way. He pulls another stunt like he did in the truck race with that fight last year and he wont be able to set on the pit wall and laugh about his team fighting for him drinking his bottle of water. He'll be trying to stop Smoke from punching his sissy brains out. While Grubby and the boys are doing likewise to Onoin Heads likeswise team. Onoin Head SUCKS!!!

Mar 3, 2009 at 1:02 PMProviding he qualifies lets see how many laps he turns before he wrecks himself or somebody else. I thought Todd would do good in cup when he came along, but he seems to be good for about half the race then he has problems either with concentration or just plain wore out. Maybe it's his ride is just bad handling, who knows.

Mar 3, 2009 at 2:27 PMDoes it matter, he and Germain Racing can't land a sponsor for the 30 in trucks. Can't believe they banked it all on Lumber Liquidators for the 2009 season. The company's been buying up wood flooring all over the US, as companies go under. While the economy has effect many in home building, obviously the companies run well enough to survive and spend money. Since I follow the Trucks, even write about the series on bleacherreport.com. I was surprise they didn't renew for the 2009 season. Can't believe a championship contending team had no prospects to fall back on and entice to sponsor them in 2009.

Mar 3, 2009 at 4:28 PMI'm glad to see I'm not only the only one wondering how many other cars he'll take out Sunday. That of course is only if he can even make the field. How disappointing to see him go on to win Daytona after causing the big wreck. At least those Bodines are consistant.
