For the first time this year, a NASCAR Sprint Cup race showed improvement in Fox’s overnight ratings as the Kobalt Tools 500 on Sunday from Atlanta Motor Speedway earned a 4.8 rating – a 2.1 percent increase from the 4.7 from a year ago, the SportsBusiness Daily reported.
The race also was the first this year that did not compete with the Olympics. It was easily the highest rated sporting event of the weekend with the next highest being the NBA game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic, which pulled in a 2.8 going up against the Cup race.
