Apr 3, 2009 at 3:39 PMNo real shocker here. That is the trend. They can blame poor attendance on the economy all they want, but when it comes to tv ratings the truth is plain. COT=BORING.

Apr 3, 2009 at 4:05 PMMaybe some announcers who don't sound like they just crawled out of a barn in the mountains and never went to school will help bring some of us back to watch the races on tv. Personally, when DW starts his boogity rant, I lose all interest in watching, and when his side kick, Larry MACK reynolds opens his mouth, I am all but ready to shut the tv off. Bring the race on tv when they get ready to sing the National Anthem, let the prerace stuff go, get some GOOD announcers, and I may be back. I used to love watching the races, but so far, I've only watched the Daytona 500. Oh yeah, get rid of "digger", send him to pasture with DW and Larry.

Apr 3, 2009 at 6:03 PMI refer to Larry Mac & DW "Jaws" as the Hee Haw NASCAR boys and James is all over it. At times they sound more like they should be on some local "free" cable access station featuring "Frydy Nyte Racin' Ya'll." I can't stand the current broadcast, we don't need an hour pre-show but it would sure be nice if they'd start a race before 2:30 - 3:00 pm. By then, I've found something else to do and can watch 30 min of highlights Sun. night instead of wasting 4 -5 hr. watching commercials with some race breaks. "Boogity boogity boogity, let's go racin' bouys." It not the economy, it's the broadcast, stupid!

Apr 4, 2009 at 1:30 PM#2...i still don't think it's the car...you could give them all dump trucks or F1 cars and it's going to be the same, race strategies dictate what happens on the trak...some teams depend on pit stops to gain positions...how about green flag stops only...the tv coverage itself makes the race boring...show me some racing...it goes on onthe trak...i don't need to see the leader going around the trak when he has a 1/2 lap lead...i don't need announcers babbling about something other than what's happening on the trak...the pattern of 5 laps and a commercial is insane...
