ESPN says ABC’s broadcast of Sunday’s Dickies 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway earned a final national household rating of 3.7 from Nielsen Media Research, matching the ratings for the fall race at the track in both 2007 and 2008.

The race averaged 5.827 million viewers.

The network also says ESPN2’s coverage of Saturday’s O’Reilly Challenge at Texas earned a final national household coverage rating of .9, down 25 percent from the 1.2 the race earned on ESPN2 in 2008. The race averaged 1.152 million viewers.

Hoop de doo. NASCAR will be spinning this one big time. "We obviously bottomed out in the rating but we're seeing improvements as we reach the exciting conclusion to the 2009 Chase."

Think it has something to do with the race starting at 3:30. Everyone fell asleep easier since it was earlier and forgot to change the channel.
