Rodney Childers will leave Gillett Evernham Motorsports, where he was crew chief for Elliott Sadler, to become David Reutimann's crew chief at Michael Waltrip Racing, according to sources familiar with the situation. An announcement should come later this week.

Childers, a former racer who made one start in 2000 in what is now the NASCAR Nationwide Series, had been crew chief for Sadler since October 2007 after spending more than two years as crew chief for Scott Riggs at MBV Motorsports and GEM. The No. 19 team with Sadler ranked 24th in owner points this year.

Childers will replace Ryan Pemberton, who left MWR to become Brian Vickers' crew chief at Red Bull Racing.

Watch out for MWR next year, they're making the right changes to turn themselves into winnners...
