Dale Earnhardt Jr. couldn’t win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for Dale Earnhardt Inc., but he’ll try to get to the track’s victory lane this weekend for Hendrick Motorsports.

The best Earnhardt Jr. could do at the 1.058-mile track was a third in 2004. In 17 starts for DEI, he posted four top-five and seven top-10 finishes. But he grew to like the track, site of Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

"I really like racing at New Hampshire,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “I really like running there. We've always run well and led some laps. It's a good race track. It's a lot like racing used to be. The crowd is a lot smaller, the infield congestion is less, and it's just a lot easier for me to negotiate my way around the entire weekend."

Crew chief Tony Eury Jr. and the No. 88 team tested for New Hampshire by going to The Milwaukee Mile recently.

“It's fairly similar to Loudon,” Eury said. “That's probably the only track around here that has the speed that can get your timing down so you can do what you need to do. We tested with the car we had at Richmond and one other car.

“We went up there last year and learned quite a bit. It puts the driver into a rhythm. We've got a lot of different kind of tracks coming up, and you throw that short track right in the middle – it's good for him to go there and get his timing back."

Eury said NHMS is an “oversized Martinsville.”

“You've got to have your drive off, good brakes to get into the corner, and your car has to roll in the center really well,” Eury said. “Over the last couple years, there haven't been two grooves. Pretty much the low groove is where it's at. The biggest thing is you've got to make sure your car has really good drive off and the roll in the center really nice."

Good Work?? What did I miss?? Coasting in a caution to win is called work-well that is just funny!! Learn how to handle your car and then you might win like a racecar driver is suppose to-by RACING!!!! You gotta be tired of settling for less than 1rst already-sit up and race!! You and Burton drive like you are out for a joyride!! Let's go RACING already

I would call being 2nd(Burton), and 3rd(JR.) in the points standings is doing something right. Both of them are very good racers, the key word here is "racer", not driver, (there's lots of those in NASCAR, driver's, I mean),guess you get my drift, these two didnt get to be 2nd and 3rd by just "driving" around the tracks.

I supose Pearl considers someone like Kyle Busch a good driver. Give me a break. Burton is the only driver that has finished every lap in every race so far this season. An Junior is a Good driver as well as Burton.

That is exactly what they do (drive around the track.) When someone comes up on there bumper they just pull over and let them go -they don't even offer up a challenge to race them or block them -pretty boring.I myself watch racing to see a race between good drivers going for a win not points cuz it all starts over anyway. And oh miss BAG.... you don't know me so don't judge(of course you know it all) or think you do!!

Pearl if your going to leave messages putting Junior down on a story about HIM then yea your going to be judged. If you don't want people to comment on your rude comments about Junior then don't leave any. I don't like Kyle Busch but he said it best when he said DUH!!!

I think these Junior haters love to ruffle our feathers. If they dislike him so much why do they read his articles? I believe in Junior and know he will go out there and drive his heart out to try and get his fans another win to celebrate and if he don't we'll still love him!!!!!Keep up the great work Dale we love you whether you come in first or last. Preferably first. Ha!

I bet if KB was "coasting during a caution to win a race", nothing would be said but praises for good racing! I too find it amusing how all the JR haters feel the need to read stories about him and leave hateful although jealously filled messages about him. Amusing to know that Jr's win was 2 races ago yet the haters still want to talk about HIM!!! Also I agree, you get to 2nd and 3rd in the points due to consistency and it doesn't matter if you are a racer or a driver, some pull over for others because they have been told or seem to know those that are faster and have a better car at that point. Better to pull over than have someone shove you out of the way - KB STYLE! If you don't want to be judged, don't leave comments that need to be judged. Aren't you leaving comments by judging the drivers and racers and you don't know them personally. Judge yourself before hitting the keys.

Who proclaimed me to be a KB fan,by the way?? I have repeatedly said I was a fan of all the drivers who race-so don't be getting your feathers ruffled over comments about your 1 driver you cheer for cuz in your minds you all think he is a god when there are so many other better racers then just him. Didn't know there was a law on what I can or can't read either. I will cheer for all divers who RACE-whether it is KB STYLE(which I like) or not-at least they put some action in the race!!!!

Russell I have read some of the things you and others write on the other drivers stories-so don't be on my case about reading articles on jr and writing stuff. You and miss bag.... have wrote some pretty nasty and downright disgusting stuff too so back off of my little comments- at least i don't call him names like you guys do.

My My My, aren't we defensive all of a sudden. Can't take the heat, get out of the comment room. I don't accuse YOU of being a KB fan, nor have I said I was a Jr Nation member. I just read ALL articles and comment, good and bad, whether it is about Jr, KB, Gordon, Stewart or any of the other 40 some odd drivers out there and take great pleasure when someone who has commented gets really defensive. As for calling KB names, nothing worse than Pee Wee Herman, just like many others that post here call him. Back off - I DON'T THINK SO.

Jr doesn't have a good record during the summer months. Dega is the only place i see him winning before the chase starts. If you can even make the chase.

For Mark and Pearl If he makes the chase? He is not a racer, just rides around? These are idiotic statements from people who donr know facts. I am pretty sure he has 11 top tens, a win, a pole and is in the top three of the laps lead category and average finish and running position, so I am pretty sure he is not riding around. As far as his only chance being to win being Talledaga, how about Daytona, Richmond, Bristol, all of which he has convincing wins. As for Pearl, I am pretty she sure she is jusy another bg girl that didnt get asked to Prom, so now she just goes against the masses. I am sorry about that, thanks for coming out.

Satspeed thanks for reminding everyone of Juniors accomplishments this year. I agree he has lots more chances to win. Heck this is his first year at Hendrick let him get used to his new home. If it was five years down the road and he had no wins I can see someone voicing thier disappointments but give the boy a chance for God's sake. He drives his heart out every week!!!!!

Russell is Kyle had coasted like that under caution passing the pace car you know good and well we would not hear the end of it so don't even go there. The cried would be that Kyle gets away with anything and everything which is total bs. Nacar, fans, and even some Jr fans (ones unlike yourself who know real racing) appreciate Kyles presence and driving style. Funny how you all like the son of the man called the Intimidator. This he got that nickname for racing nice??? I don't think so.

I'm late on this edition but.......JR Nation rocks! All you have to do is see the drivers get out of the cars at races end to see the hard work they do. Everybody's gotta fav and they dont win all the races so to run in the top 10 is gr8! What's not to love about Jun? He gets a mention in every newspaper and Nascar show. He makes more money for the tracks than n e other driver. You wont see the track owners complaining. I'll never forget his slingshot move in the Pepsi 400, July 2001 in that baseball car. Will n e 1?

Well, I'm back after the race yesterday and I am still in awe---Jamie McMurray must be blind or an idiot or maybe a blind idiot. It is bad enough to have a real racing wreck, but to just run the h@#$ over someone is, as Kyle Petty said: "Incredible!" When is Junior's luck going to turn good??!!!

Junior won on strategy. So have alot of other drivers. Look at Kurt Busch's win at Louden. He used strategy and was also lucky it started to rain. A win is a win. Terrie
