Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Toyota, was released this morning from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital after spending the night there for observation following a crash Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway.

Following his lap-99 incident in the Amp Energy 500, Hamlin was taken to the track's infield care center and then taken by ambulance to Birmingham. He was kept overnight and released this morning to return home to North Carolina.

Hamlin had just led his ninth lap of the race when he lost his right-front tire in Turn 2, slid up the track and made heavy contact with the SAFER barrier.

Seems like NASCAR could and should have made most of this information available shortly after the race

Yes,thank the good Lord for watching over Denny.Goodyear and NASCAR better get a handle on the way those tires performed,or thier going to get someone hurt really bad.You can't have that many tires fail, when the cars are going 190mph+.

Very glad to hear Denny is okay. I hope NASCAR keeps us informed as to how an injured driver is doing. We worry about our drivers and watch to see that they are okay.

Lets not forget why Nascar was made every driver wear the HANS device and added the foam into the walls. It will save alot of lives and major injuries.

I always pray for the drivers before the race, even the ones I really really don't like. I have been praying especially for Denny these past couple days, he took quite the beating on Sunday. I am a little upset that I could not get ANY information on NASCAR.com about Denny's crash or condition. I am very glad to see he's okay, thank the Lord for protecting the drivers.
