Dale Earnhardt Jr., Wrangler remain together for 2009 season

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will once again team up with a familiar brand in 2009.

Wrangler announced Wednesday that it will continue as the official jean of Earnhardt Jr. for a sixth straight year.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver will be featured in a variety of consumer promotions and company marketing initiatives.

“It’s been an honor to work with Wrangler for all these years, and this relationship has always meant a lot to me,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Wrangler has been a great supporter of my family, my teams and the sport. I couldn’t be happier that we’ll continue to build on the things we’ve already accomplished.”

Wrangler began its involvement in NASCAR in the early 1980s as the primary sponsor on the car of Earnhardt Jr.’s father, Dale Earnhardt.

In 2004, the Wrangler-Earnhardt collaboration was renewed with Earnhardt Jr. It has since helped raise more than $175,000 for various charitable causes. The relationship is Earnhardt Jr.’s longest-running endorsement deal.

“The Earnhardt name has always represented the core, all-American values that Wrangler embodies, and we are thrilled to be continuing that tradition,” said Craig Errington, vice president of Wrangler marketing. “Dale Jr. has been a wonderful partner, and as evidenced by his huge popularity, he continues to be a perfect representative for the Wrangler brand.”

Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.

I guess it's a personal choice, but I don't think I could survive if I had to wear Wrangler jeans all the time. Good for Junior though to re-up his deal with them though.

Do you all know that the Rustlers brand of jeans you find in Walmart are made by Wrangler? I call them the "poor man's Wranglers." LOL. That's what I wear because I can't afford to buy Wrangler's...Sorry. But I was thrilled to find out that piece of information. On the Wrangler website to boot. So, I've been supporting Jr and DIDN'T KNOW IT!!! Way to go for another year, JR!

nice to know that Wrangler is still doing well when other companies are cutting back...than again the price they charge for "foreign" made jeans is quite steep...

Candice - great to know about the Rustler thing. My husband buys 8 pair at a time for work!!! We, too, have been supporting Junior and didn't even know it! Yahoo!!!

In these days of "no" sponsorship, to hear that anyone has re-up'd as a sponser is printable news, without question. And a little bit of good news goes along way these days. I would love to see a retro yellow and blue Wrangler paint scheme.
    Way to go JR!!!
