Dale Earnhardt Inc. President and CEO Teresa Earnhardt announced the appointments of two executive leaders for the company on Thursday.
Jeff Steiner was named executive vice president and general manager responsible for the oversight and management of DEI, the Dale Earnhardt Foundation and special initiatives relating to Earnhardt properties. Steiner began his role at the company on April 1.
Chad Warpula was appointed as executive vice president and general counsel for DEI. Warpula will oversee the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates NASCAR Sprint Cup team and handle all legal matters for DEI, EGR and Earnhardt-Childress Racing. Both executives will report to Teresa Earnhardt.
DEI's racing profile has changed in the last few months as its Sprint Cup operation is now operated by Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, which was formed in November by the merger of DEI and Chip Ganassi Racing.
DEI also has a stake in Earnhardt-Childress Racing Technologies engines in addition to overseeing the Dale Earnhardt Foundation and a legacy program for the late Dale Earnhardt. It also could field cars in other series besides Cup.
"I am pleased to make these announcements today," Earnhardt said in a news release. "Jeff and Chad are progressive leaders who will move our company into the future, as we adjust to the new global business climate, while continuing the legacy of Dale and the company he and I founded more than 25 years ago. We look forward to achieving great success together."
Steiner, 44, comes to DEI as a global operating and business executive with more than 23 years of senior management experience, having served in leadership positions at Johnson Controls Automotive Systems Group as Vice President and General Manager, and at American Specialty Cars (ASC) as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
Warpula, 35, is a legal and operations professional who has worked with DEI since 1999, serving as the company's legal advisor while employed as a partner at the national law firm of Alston & Bird, LLP.

I don't care if she gets out or stays in...the interest is gone. And for Jr....it's the best move he could have made. I'm now so into the "88"!

DEI WAS Dale Sr's dream and as the wife of DE Teresa helped with that dream. The untimely death of DE Sr sent DEI into a new deminsion, Teresa was not and is not equiped to run a multifaceted race organization that's why all the hiring of top level staff. Max Siegle tried to get DEI up front, but the non communication between Jr and Teresa led to the split, which is now the result of the demise of DEI as we knew it. I read with amazement what Chip G said in defending Teresa about the sniping she has been getting since Jr left...my motto is if you can't take the HEAT then stay out of the kitchen. Jr had moved on and so should the rest of us, DEI had a good run, there are good memories, it's now time to focus on the future and wish them luck in the future.
