Dakar Rally: Robby Gordon moves to ninth overall after third stage
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series owner/driver Robby Gordon moved to ninth overall in the Dakar Rally on Monday by finishing 10th in the third stage of the race.
Gordon’s Hummer finished the Puerto Madryn-to-Jacobacci, 694-kilometer stage in 4 hours, 43 minutes and 2 seconds. Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah won the stage in a BMW.
Spain’s Carlos Sainz remains the overall leader, with Gordon 34:32 behind.
Tuesday’s stage four is 488 kilometers, as the competitors travel from Jacobacci to Neuquen.
The Dakar Rally is being held in South America this year, beginning in Buenos Aires, Argentina, running through Chile and finishing in Buenos Aires.
