Chicagoland Speedway officials are jumping on the LeBron James bandwagon – trying to help the Chicago Bulls land the NBA star and hoping to create NASCAR buzz in the process.

James, the Cleveland Cavaliers star, is a free agent, and Chicagoland Speedway President Craig Rust is doing his best to help the Bulls by offering to rename the track to LeBron James Speedway for the July 9-10 race weekend.

In a letter sent to James on Thursday, Rust offered to crown James as “king” of the race weekend.

Rust said any proceeds from any “LeBron James Speedway” merchandise would be donated to a charity of his choice.
